11/12/09: The Miami Herald reports that Umar Hamzayevich Abdulayev, who is seeking his freedom from the military prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, is challenging the Obama administration's attempts to preempt cases by declaring that once a detainee has been cleared for release to a foreign country the courts should stop the review of whether the detainee could be released into the US.
07/08/09: The Miami Herald reports that Umar Abdulayev, a 30-year-old Guantanamo prisoner, is so afraid of returning to his native Tajikistan that he is asking to stay at the US Navy base in Cuba. He claims Tajik intelligence agents threatened retribution when he refused an offer of freedom in exchange for spying on Muslim radicals.
