Hearing begins for Maui man accused of being spy

11/20/09: The Miami Herald reports that a former B-2 stealth bomber engineer accused of spying for China suffers from narcissistic personality disorder, expert witnesses for the prosecution and the defense testified in federal court Thursday. But the forensic psychologists who evaluated Noshir Gowadia of Maui disagreed during the hearing over whether he is competent to stand trial and assist in his defense.

04/10/09: The Honolulu Star-Bulletin reports that US District Judge for the District of Hawaii Helen Gilmor has ordered a mental exam for defendant Noshir Gowadia, 65, who stands accused of helping the Chinese government design a cruise missile that can evade infrared detection, trying to sell military secrets to other countries, and making false statements and money laundering. The exam is likely to delay the trial for four to five months.
