Al-Qaeda offshoot calls for fresh US attacks

02/08/10: The Financial Times reports that the Yemen-based al-Qaeda group that claimed responsibility for the failed Christmas day attack on a passenger jet in the US has called for further attacks against American and Jewish interests in an audio tape released on Monday. In the tape, which was posted on the internet, Saeed al-Shehri, a leader of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and a released Guantanamo Bay detainee, said US and “crusader” interests were everywhere.
