05/12/09: The ABA Standing Committee on Law and National Security has released its March/April report. The report includes an essay entitled "In Looking Back to Go Forward: Remaking U.S. Detainee Policy" by James M. Durant III and Frank Anechiarico, professors at the U.S. Air Force Academy, discuss the history of detainee policy.It also includes an essay entitled "In Tying Our Hands in Combating International Money Laundering: The United States Should Loosen the Restraints, But Do So Carefully" by attorney Ethan S. Burger
05/12/09: The ABA Standing Committee on Law and National Security has announced its 2009 Law Student Writing Competition, "Advancing Liberty in the 21st Century While Preserving National Security." The competition seeks to encourage scholarly debate regarding current issues related to detaining and prosecuting terrorists; the impact of the nation’s immigration policy on National Security; the status of international treaties and their impact on National Security; as well as the many issues related to the area of surveillance and intelligence gathering.
